Sana Loue

Sana Loue, J.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the School of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in Cleveland, Ohio. She holds secondary appointments in the Department of Bioethics, the Center for International Health, and the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences of CWRU. Prior to joining CWRU, she practiced immigration law and AIDS-related law for 14 years, following a career in social work and secondary education. She is the author of 9 books and over 40 articles, as well as multiple chapters in books and government monographs and has presented at local, national, and international conferences. Dr. Loue teaches courses on Gender, Ethnicity, and Health Research; Psychiatric Epidemiology; Community Health Advocacy; Ethics, Law, and Epidemiology; and Sexuality, Public Health, and the Law. She has taught overseas in Romania, Uganda, and Vietnam. Dr. Loue's empirical research focuses primarily on HIV prevention among vulnerable and marginalized populations, including immigrants, non-English speakers, injection drug users, and the severely mentally ill. Dr. Loue has served on numerous advisory boards of nonprofit organizations and governmental task forces. Dr. Loue was the recipient of a Fulbright award to teach and conduct research in Romania during 1999 and 2000.
