Denise is Merchant & Gould shareholder, soon to be resident in the Seattle office. Denise practices in the area of biotechnology and chemical patents, particularly in client counseling, strategic patent matters, and patent prosecution.

As a graduate of Loyola College, Baltimore (B.S. Biology and Education, 1971), Denise taught high school Biology and Chemistry before pursuing her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore (M.S., 1982; Ph.D., 1987, Department of Anatomy). After a post-doctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Denise joined the firm of Pravel, Gambrell, Hewitt, & Krieger in Houston as a patent agent. She remained with Pravel, Hewitt, Kimball and Krieger after graduating from South Texas College of Law (J.D., 1992, Order of the Lytae) and later joined the firm of Merchant & Gould in Minneapolis.

Denise is admitted to the Bar in Texas (1993) and Minnesota (1996), U.S. District Court - Southern District of Texas (1993) and is a registered patent attorney (US PTO 1989). She is active in the Minnesota State Bar Assoc. and the American Intellectual Property Law Assoc.
